Ministry of Justice is seeking Probation Officers to assess and manage risk, provide reports to courts and support victims and communities. You will supervise individuals on probation, work with partners, and deliver accredited programmes while upholding safeguarding duties.

The role requires PQF Honours Degree/Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or equivalent, with knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and risk assessment tools. Hybrid working in the UK is encouraged.

Qualifications

• PQF Honours Degree/Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice; or Diploma in Probation Studies; or CQSW (Probation option).
• Knowledge and understanding of the work of the Criminal Justice System and the Probation Service.
• A working knowledge of relevant legislation and National Standards.
• Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and risk/needs assessment tools.

Responsabilités

• Provide information and advice to courts, other agencies and partner organisations.
• Supervise people on probation subject to community orders and licences.
• Provide professional advice and assessment, including written reports to courts, the Parole Board, other agencies and partners.
• Undertake full offender management tasks with people on probation assessed at all risk levels.
• Use computer-based systems to maintain records and documentation.
• Attend meetings and represent Probation Services at partnership forums (e.g. MAPPA, MARAC).
• Deliver and co-lead accredited programmes as required.
• Carry out safeguarding duties for children in accordance with responsibilities.
