Job summary

Ministry of Justice is recruiting a Probation Officer to assess and manage offenders on probation, supervise schemes, and contribute to risk management. The role involves collaboration with courts, Parole Board, and partner agencies to protect the public and victims.

You will work within a framework of equality and inclusion, adhere to policies on confidential information, and handle diverse community needs while delivering accredited programmes and safeguarding duties.

Qualifications

• Provide professional advice and assessment to courts, Parole Board, other agencies and partner organisations.
• Undertake offender management tasks with probationers across all risk levels including high/very high risk.
• Use computer-based systems to produce, update and maintain records within agreed timescales.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice and assessment to courts and partner agencies.
• Undertake the full range of offender management tasks with people on probation assessed at all levels of risk of serious harm including high and very high.
• Use computer-based systems to produce, update and maintain records within agreed timescales.
• Ensure timely referrals to and relationships between offender management, court teams, victim contact units, interventions, and external agencies to enhance outcomes.
• Attend professional meetings and represent PS in partnership forums (MAPPA, MARAC).
• Collaborate with colleagues and provide guidance to Probation Services Officers.
• Deliver cover within teams and on-site visits as required.
