Job summary

National Probation Service in Bedfordshire is recruiting a qualified Probation Officer to manage offender rehabilitation, assessment, and reporting for courts and the Parole Board. You will work across risk levels and co-lead accredited programmes, with hybrid working where business need allows.

The role requires a Probation Officer qualification and the right to work in the UK under civil service nationality rules, with opportunities for professional development and multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Probation qualification or qualified Probation Officer status.
• Experience across offender management and court reporting.
• Commitment to equality and high professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice and assessment, including written reports to courts and Parole Board.
• Manage offenders across risk levels, including high and very high risk.
• Supervise probation on community orders and licences; attend custodial sentences as needed.
• Maintain records using computer systems within agreed timescales.
• Develop referrals and build relationships with court teams and external agencies.
• Participate in MAPPA/MARAC and contribute to partnership forums.
• Offer professional guidance and support to Probation Services Officers and other staff.
• Provide cover for team and other teams when required.
• Conduct prison or home visits as required; deliver accredited programmes.
