Cherry Professional - Relationship Led Recruitment is recruiting a Probate Team Manager in Derby. The role is permanent full-time, 37.5 hours weekly (Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00) with a salary up to £50,000.

Lead a team of up to 8 Probate Legal Advisors, ensuring high-quality client service, maintaining SRA compliance and efficient file progression. Solicitor or FCILEx with probate experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor (with current practising certificate) or Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx).
• Strong experience in Probate and Estate Administration.
• Previous supervisory, team leadership or management experience.
• Excellent knowledge of SRA regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop others.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage, motivate and develop a team of Probate Legal Advisors (up to 8).
• Legal & Compliance: Provide supervision, maintain a small personal probate caseload, ensure SRA compliance and risk management.
• Client Service & Performance: Ensure high-quality, compassionate probate service, monitor billing and progress with regular matter reviews.

Probate Team Manager
Location: Derby
Salary: Up to £50,000
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)

The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Probate Team Manager on behalf of a respected and growing legal services organisation specialising in Wills, Probate and Estate Planning.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to lead a team of Probate Legal Advisors, combining technical expertise with strong people leadership to deliver excellent client outcomes and departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership

• Manage, motivate and develop a team of up to 8 Probate Legal Advisors.
• Drive performance against team targets and KPIs.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and coaching sessions.
• Identify training needs and support ongoing professional development.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding and retention of team members.
• Work collaboratively with other managers to ensure departmental success.

Legal & Compliance

• Provide technical supervision and support to the team.
• Maintain a small personal caseload of probate matters.
• Ensure compliance with SRA regulations and internal policies.
• Monitor file quality, matter progression and risk management.
• Keep abreast of legislative and industry changes.

Client Service & Performance

• Ensure clients receive a high-quality, compassionate service throughout their probate journey.
• Support the resolution of client complaints when required.
• Monitor work-in-progress, billing and team capacity.
• Hold regular matter reviews to ensure files progress efficiently.
• Produce accurate performance reporting and implement improvements where needed.

About You
Essential
