Job summary

HRGO Recruitment in Brentwood, Essex is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to deliver a proactive service, ensure UK compliance and strengthen our safety culture across warehouse, distribution and office operations.

You will work with senior management and HR, conduct risk assessments and training, lead audits and incident investigations, and drive continuous improvement aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Internal Auditor training or relevant auditing experience.
• Experience with COSHH assessments and safety data sheets.
• Knowledge of statutory inspections, manual handling, fire safety and warehouse safety.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review site H&S policies, procedures and improvement plans.
• Embed best practice through coaching and SOPs with managers.
• Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation.
• Lead regular H&S meetings and report on performance and improvements.
• Maintain H&S documentation and statutory registers.
• Conduct risk assessments and workplace inspections across operations.
• Coordinate equipment inspections and COSHH control.
• Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Deliver H&S inductions and ongoing training.
• Promote safety engagement and maintain training records.
• Audit, report and drive continuous improvement.
