Job summary

SF EXPRESS (EUROPE) is seeking a hands-on Health & Safety Specialist to support our UK warehouse operations near Ipswich. This role goes beyond administration, requiring practical H&S experience in warehouse, logistics or manufacturing to own day-to-day safety management and drive continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will identify risks, lead investigations, deliver inductions and training, and work closely with operations to standardise our safety framework across sites as we grow.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of proven H&S experience in a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and risk assessment practices.
• Experience with PPE, fire safety, forklift safety, LOLER and PUWER.
• Lead incident/accident and near-miss investigations with corrective actions.
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification is highly desirable; full right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain daily H&S management for UK warehouse sites.
• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
• Manage safety controls including PPE, forklift safety, fire safety and equipment checks.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations with root-cause analysis.
• Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks and safety training; maintain records and KPIs.
• Collaborate with operations to strengthen safety culture and standards.

Job description

We are looking for a hands-on Health & Safety Specialist to support our growing UK warehouse operations.

This is not a purely administrative H&S role. We are looking for someone with solid warehouse, logistics or manufacturing H&S experience who can take ownership of day-to-day safety management, identify risks proactively, and work closely with operational teams to drive continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop into a broader UK H&S management role, supporting the establishment and standardisation of our H&S framework across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and maintain warehouse Health & Safety policies, procedures and Risk Assessments, ensuring compliance with UK H&S requirements.
• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections, identify hazards and follow up on corrective actions.
• Manage key safety controls including PPE, forklift safety, warehouse racking, fire safety, LOLER and PUWER.
• Lead accident and Near Miss investigations, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
• Deliver H&S induction, Toolbox Talks and relevant safety training, while maintaining training records and monthly H&S KPIs.
• Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to strengthen safety culture and continuously improve site safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–5 years of proven experience in Health & Safety within a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or similar operational environment.
• Good knowledge of UK H&S legislation and practical experience with Risk Assessment, PPE, Fire Safety, FLT, LOLER and PUWER.
• Experience in incident / accident and Near Miss investigation and corrective action management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices and drive improvements.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and operate effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
• NEBOSH / IOSH qualification or equivalent H&S qualification is highly desirable.
• Full right to work in the UK and able to provide valid evidence of work eligibility.
