Job summary

Forsters LLP in London is seeking an Associate in Probate (Private Wealth) with 3–4 years PQE to join our top-ranked team on a permanent, full-time basis. The Private Wealth department handles high-value estate matters with a large probate workload.

You will work alongside senior associates, a probate manager and a paralegal, taking on increasing responsibility as you progress within the team. The firm emphasises collaborative culture and client-centric service.

Qualifications

• Experience in probate matters and administering estates, ideally from a top tier private client firm.
• Ideally 3–4 years PQE in probate law.
• Able to run an administration with minimal assistance while receiving guidance from senior team members.

Responsibilities

• Collecting information from clients, institutions and valuers to populate inheritance tax returns.
• Drawing up estate accounts, including STEP format.
• Completing inheritance tax calculations, including relievable property and exempt assets.
• Dealing with executors and beneficiaries professionally and efficiently.
• Preparing grant applications and ancillary documents (notices of power reserved, powers of attorney, renunciations).
• Handling asset transfers with banks and other institutions and resolving liabilities.
• Bringing administrations to a conclusion by completing estate accounts with accountants when needed.
