Job summary

Our client, a specialist provider within the distribution engineering sector, seeks a Private Networks Design Engineer to design and deliver private electricity networks. This permanent, hands-on role offers exposure across LV, 11kV and wider network design, with mentoring from experienced engineers to support technical development and career progression.

The role involves producing drawings, submittals, and reports, ensuring designs meet ENA, DNO/IDNO G81 standards and BS7671, while supporting

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with LV and 11kV design principles; interest in developing knowledge of EHV networks.
• Understanding of practical electrical installations and private electricity networks.
• Knowledge of ENA, DNO or IDNO G81 standards and BS7671.
• Strong communication and ability to work with clients, project managers and site teams.
• Willingness to obtain CSCS/EUSR/ECS certification or similar safety qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Produce general arrangements, layouts, single-line diagrams, technical submittals and drawings.
• Prepare compliant designs in line with customer requirements and standards.
• Support Senior Engineers with design calculations and documentation.
• Assist Tendering Engineers and Project Managers with drawings and tenders.
• Create accurate as-built drawings and ensure outputs are buildable and cost-conscious.
• Maintain design standards, drawing registers and technical documentation.
• Engage with external stakeholders to clarify requirements and escalate design challenges.
• Support accreditations, design audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
