Job summary

Matchtech is recruiting a Private Networks Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of private electricity networks across LV and 11kV. The role includes mentoring from experienced engineers to develop technical capability and career progression.

Key responsibilities include producing general arrangements, layouts, single-line diagrams and technical reports, while ensuring designs meet ENA, DNO/IDNO G81 standards and BS7671. A hands-on, client-facing engineer is sought.

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with LV and 11kV design principles.
• Familiarity with ENA, DNO/IDNO G81 standards and BS7671.
• Safety certifications such as EUSR, CSCS or ECS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Producing general arrangements, layouts and single-line diagrams.

• Supporting senior engineers with design calculations and documentation.

Private Network Design Engineer

Our client, a specialist provider within the distribution engineering sector, is seeking a Private Networks Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of private electricity networks. This permanent, hands-on role offers varied exposure across LV, 11kV and wider network design, with mentoring from experienced engineers to support technical development and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Producing general arrangements, layouts, single-line diagrams, technical submittals, construction drawings and technical reports
• Preparing compliant designs in line with customer requirements, ENA, DNO and IDNO G81 standards, BS7671 and the Business Management System
• Supporting Senior Engineers with design calculations, technical documentation and value engineering
• Assisting Tendering Engineers and Project Managers with drawings, tenders and day-to-day technical challenges
• Producing accurate as-built drawings and ensuring design outputs are buildable, practical and cost-conscious
• Maintaining design standards, drawing registers and technical documentation
• Engaging with external stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and escalating design challenges promptly
• Supporting NERS accreditations, design audits, technical reviews, project financials and continuous improvement initiatives

Job Requirements

• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience with LV and 11kV design principles, with an interest in developing knowledge of EHV networks
• Understanding of the practical application of electrical installations and private electricity networks
• Knowledge of, or exposure to, earthing design, control, protection and automation schemes would be advantageous
• Familiarity with ENA, DNO or IDNO G81 standards and BS7671
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project managers, engineers and site teams
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Safety awareness, with EUSR, CSCS or ECS certification and First Aid at Work certification, or a willingness to obtain these
