Chadwick Nott is seeking a Private Client Lawyer to join a highly regarded South West firm’s Estates team. Based in Teignmouth, you will manage a diverse estate administration caseload, advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries throughout probate and related processes.

The role offers exposure to tax-related matters, Wills and LPAs, with opportunities for client development and mentoring junior colleagues within a supportive, ambitious team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with estate administration experience.
  • Experience handling a caseload from start to finish in private client matters.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building with clients, executors and trustees.
  • Knowledge of tax-related aspects in estate administration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of taxable and non-taxable estate administrations.
  • Advise executors, trustees and beneficiaries through the probate process.
  • Prepare inheritance tax returns, Grants of Representation, estate accounts and distributions.
  • Draft Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  • Meet clients in the office or at their homes when appropriate.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and referral networks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on trusts, succession planning and related tax matters.
  • Support the growth and reputation of the Estates team; mentor junior colleagues.

Private Client Lawyer - Teignmouth


An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a highly regarded Legal 500-recognised regional South West law firm with a strong reputation for private client and wealth management work.


Working within a successful Estates team, you'll support individuals, families and business owners with a broad range of estate administration matters. This is a client-focused role offering the opportunity to manage your own caseload, develop long-standing client relationships and become a trusted adviser to generations of local families.


Based in Teignmouth, you'll benefit from the close-knit feel of a local office whilst being part of a larger, well-established Wealth Management team with the support, expertise and career opportunities that come with a leading regional firm.



  • Managing a varied caseload of taxable and non-taxable estate administrations.

  • Advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries throughout the probate process.

  • Preparing inheritance tax returns, applications for Grants of Representation, estate accounts and distributions.

  • Drafting Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

  • Meeting clients in the office and, where appropriate, at their homes.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, professional contacts and referrers.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues on succession planning, trusts and tax-related matters.

  • Supporting the continued growth and reputation of the Estates team.

  • Mentoring junior colleagues where appropriate.


Candidate Requirements

We are keen to hear from qualified Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives with experience in estate administration who are looking to build a long-term career within a supportive and ambitious team.


You will ideally have:



  • Around 3 years' PQE, although applicants with more or less experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience managing estate administration matters from start to finish.

  • Knowledge of both taxable and non-taxable estates.

  • Experience drafting Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • The ability to manage your own caseload effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
