Job summary

Clayton Legal in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, is seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer or Fee Earner to join its growing team. You will manage your own caseload from inception to completion, handling wills, trusts, LPAs, deputyships and probate with high-quality client care.

You should have a minimum of 3 years' PQE in Private Client law, be able to work independently, and contribute to business development while maintaining AML compliance.

Qualifications

• Experienced Private Client Lawyer or Fee Earner with 3+ years' PQE in Private Client law.
• Strong knowledge of Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, LPAs, Deputyships and Probate.
• Able to manage a caseload independently and deliver high-quality client service.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload from inception to completion.

Are you an experienced Private Client Lawyer or Fee Earner looking to join an established and growing firm where you can take ownership of your caseload and develop your career?

Our client is an established law firm with over 25 years' experience and, due to continued growth, is looking to appoint an experienced Private Client Lawyer / Fee Earner to join its expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 3 years' recent experience managing a Private Client caseload, and who is confident working independently and keen to contribute to the continued growth of the department.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Private Client, you will manage your own caseload from inception to completion, delivering a high-quality service and excellent client care.

Your caseload will include:

• Wills and estate planning


• Lasting Powers of Attorney


• Deputyships


• Trusts


• Probate and estate administration


• General Private Client matters

You will also:

• Plan and prioritise your workload and maintain accurate case records


• Draft legal documentation and correspondence


• Communicate with clients, colleagues and third parties


• Ensure compliance with AML and regulatory requirements


• Identify and manage risk appropriately


• Witness and certify documents


• Assist colleagues with complex matters and provide holiday cover


• Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives


• Develop and retain new and existing clients


• Support the continued growth and profile of the Private Client team

About You

You will ideally be a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or experienced Fee Earner with 3+ years' PQE or equivalent experience in Private Client law.

You will have strong technical knowledge across Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, LPAs, Deputyships and Probate, together with the confidence to manage your own caseload.

Experience of contentious probate would be advantageous, as would previous involvement in marketing, business development or growing a Private Client team.

STEP or SFE membership would also be desirable.
