Job summary

Mitie Immigration & Justice is seeking Prisoner Custody Officers (Vehicle Based) at the Perth Vehicle Base to support the Scottish Prison Service. You will be responsible for safe, secure transport of individuals between prisons, courts and custody locations within Scotland.

This role demands professionalism, calm under pressure and clear reporting, with a 42-hour week (4 on 4 off) and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

Full UK Driving Licence.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
Experience within security, custody, police, prison, military, healthcare, service industry or public service environments.
Experience of working with vulnerable individuals.
Knowledge of the criminal justice sector.

Responsibilities

Prisoner Care and Welfare: ensure safety, security and welfare of individuals in custody during transportation.
Escorting and Transportation: escort prisoners safely between prisons, courts, custody centres, hospitals and other locations.
Safety and Security: conduct searches, prevent escapes and respond to incidents.
Documentation: maintain accurate operational records and complete handovers/receptions.
Partnership Working: liaise with Scottish Prison Service staff, Police Scotland, court officials and other partners.
