Job summary

Ministry of Justice in the UK is seeking a Hybrid/Non-operational Workshop Supervisor for a prison establishment. You will supervise prisoners in non-specialist workshops, manage workshop activities, enforce health and safety, security, and governance, and contribute to training and production targets.

You will work with local site teams, attend meetings, and support administrative duties while maintaining high standards of discipline and integrity in line with civil service policies.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising prisoners in workshops.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the selection process of prisoners for the workshop.
• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in health and safety, COSHH, machinery and tools usage.
• Provide support for prisoners by tailoring learning and training requirements; set work schedules and manage targets/quality standards.
• Supervise, manage and control prisoners safely whilst carrying out activities, including security checks as required.
• Log attendance and approve prisoner hours worked and wages; record piece work where appropriate.
• Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and provide administrative support for workshop activities.
