Job summary

Circle is seeking an Upside Community Worker to provide relational support for individuals transitioning from prison to the community, across Tayside. The role involves engaging families, coordinating with partners, and ensuring flexible, trauma-informed outreach.

The post emphasises safeguarding, collaboration with prison staff, and facilitating access to housing, health and benefits, with supervision and ongoing training within a national programme.

Qualifications

• A professional qualification in social work, social care, education, health, or another relevant discipline.
• Direct experience with children, parents, or families in a supportive capacity.
• Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and GIRFEC/ SHANARRI wellbeing indicators.
• Experience working in partnership with multiple agencies to meet family needs.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals pre- and post-release from prison, and their families, promoting positive change.
• Assist parents/carers to develop parenting capacity and relationships with children.
• Collaborate with prison workers for pre-release planning.
• Record, monitor, and evaluate work, including risk assessments.
• Promote multi-agency working with statutory and third-sector partners.
