His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service is seeking a Prison Support Role at HMP Isle of Wight. The role supports the day-to-day running of a busy prison, balancing desk duties with practical tasks, including security checks, deliveries, and visitor supervision.

As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you’ll join a team that helps monitor CCTV and phone calls, and you may assist with driving duties. No formal qualifications are required, but strong communication and calmness under pressure are

Qualifications

• Helping to keep a prison running smoothly and safely you will have good judgement and common sense, and, above all, be a great team player.
• The OSG role will give you significant knowledge and experience of how a prison operates.

Responsibilities

• From security and searches at the gate, to managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV.
• Involves some desk duties with more physical tasks such as lifting, carrying and walking to escort vehicles across the prison grounds.
• You will work a variety of shifts, including weekend and night shifts, to keep things running.
