Job summary

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Pharmacy Technicians to work within the Prison service on a flexible bank basis, based at HMP Portland. This role offers bank hours up to 37.5 per week and support for medicines management in a secure environment.

You will dispense, administer and reconcile medicines, supervise assistants, and contribute to medicines optimisation under the supervision of a prison service pharmacist.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
• Registration with GPhC as a pharmacy technician.
• Previous prison or mental health pharmacy experience.
• Good knowledge of SOPs and ability to use prescribed computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide medicines optimisation services to the prison.
• Provide medicines administration service to offenders at the prescribed times on a 7-day rota.
• Undertake medicines reconciliation for prisoners admitted to the prison.
• Supervise assistants in dispensing services.
• Be an accredited checking technician and ensure final dispensing checks.
• Adhere to SOPs and assist with updating medicines optimisation SOPs.
