Job summary

NHS Forth Valley Prison Healthcare in Polmont is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support timely medicines processing and supply within the prison health centre. The role requires handling requests from healthcare staff and prisoners, and ensuring stock control and documentation are maintained to a high standard.

Experience in a pharmaceutical setting is required, and the successful candidate will be a PVG Scheme member.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a pharmaceutical setting is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the accurate and timely processing and supply of medicines within the prison, in accordance with specified procedures.
• Contribute to the day-to-day running of the Health Centre by supporting an efficient and accurate medicines supply process.
• Respond to requests from healthcare staff and prisoners for medicines, dressings, sundries and appliances required to meet the needs of the prison population.
• Participate in the control and distribution of medicines, both as named-patient supplies and as stock within the prison.
• Participate in filing prescription Kardexes and generating stock-control documentation.
• Help ensure that the quality of the service, environment and equipment meets the specified standards.
