Job summary

NHS Forth Valley Prison Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to be based at HMP Polmont. The role involves assisting with the processing and supply of medicines for the prison population and supporting daily medicines operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a pharmaceutical setting is required.
• The duties require the successful candidate to be a member of the PVG Scheme.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the accurate and timely processing and supply of medicines within the prison, in accordance with specified procedures.
• Contribute to the day-to-day running of the Health Centre by supporting an efficient and accurate medicines supply process.
• Respond to requests from healthcare staff and prisoners for medicines, dressings, sundries and appliances required to meet the needs of the prison population.
• Participate in the control and distribution of medicines, both as named-patient supplies and as stock within the prison.
• Participate in filing prescription Kardexes and generating stock-control documentation.
• Help ensure that the quality of the service, environment and equipment meets the specified standards.
