Job summary

Shannon Trust are recruiting a Shannon Trust facilitator to lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme at HMP Gartree. The role requires building relationships with inmates, staff and volunteers, and applying a resilient, problem-solving approach to maximise learning opportunities.

This is a fixed-term role until 31 March 2027 with a potential permanent appointment subject to contract renewal. Interviews are planned for 16 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience in prison settings preferred.
• Ability to build relationships and demonstrate resilience, determination and problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and development of the prison-based reading and numeracy programme at HMP Gartree.
• Maximise opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
