Staffordshire County Council’s Prison Library team is seeking a dedicated Library Assistant to deliver postal, literacy and information services within HMP Featherstone. You will support prisoners with access to books and resources, while promoting reading for pleasure and learning in a custodial environment.

The role operates 9 hours on Tue afternoons/evening and Sat mornings, with shifts subject to prison regime. A pro-rata salary applies for the 9-hour contract; travel and DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in a public service environment with excellent face-to-face customer service.
• Experience of working in a team.
• Experience of following security and confidentiality procedures.
• Flexible approach to duties and ability to engage with diverse people.

Responsabilités

• Provide and develop an essential library service, promoting creativity, literacy and reading for pleasure and learning.
• Actively engage with customers to support them in using library space, service and resources for personal and professional development.
• Work in the main library and across the prison to offer library resources and activities.
