Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is recruiting for a part-time Library Assistant at HMP Featherstone. The 9-hour grade 4 post operates Tuesday afternoon/evening and Saturday mornings, with pro-rata pay for the 9-hour contract. Interviews planned on 18 November, on site, with DBS checks and Vetting via Prison/Staffordshire County Council.

The role supports prisoners with books, information, activities and resources, across the prison, in outreach and main library settings.

Qualifications

• Experience in a public service environment delivering excellent face-to-face customer service.
• Experience working in a team and following security procedures.
• Flexible, adaptable to shift patterns and able to engage diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide and develop an essential service, promoting literacy and reading for pleasure and learning.
• Engage with customers to help them use library spaces and resources for personal and professional development.
• Work in the main library and across the prison to offer library resources and activities.
