Job summary

KSB Recruitment in North Yorkshire is seeking a Chef Supervisor to oversee prison kitchen operations. You will supervise prisoners doing food preparation, demonstrate recipes, and ensure meals are produced safely and on time, with an emphasis on training and mentoring.

The role values team leadership, clear instructions, and strict adherence to food hygiene and allergen procedures, while working four days on and three days off on a day shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
• Ability to supervise others and guide kitchen staff.
• Understanding of food hygiene and allergen awareness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise prisoners undertaking food preparation and cooking duties.
• Demonstrate recipes, cooking methods and preparation techniques.
• Explain recipe specifications, portion sizes and food production requirements.
• Monitor food quality, consistency and presentation.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures are followed.
• Support the smooth and timely preparation of daily meals.
• Provide clear instructions and guidance to kitchen workers.
• Maintain a safe, organised and professional working environment.
• Follow prison security procedures and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
• Work collaboratively with the wider catering team.
