Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Principal Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineer for the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. You will lead welding quality across projects, ensuring compliance with ISO 3834-2 and related standards while guiding a team of QA/QC engineers.

The role requires senior welding expertise, security clearance eligibility, and a proven ability to improve welding systems. On-site, full-time, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable welding/fabrication/welding QA experience.
• Knowledge of weld quality management systems per ISO 3834-2.
• Understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) processes and welding quality requirements.
• Knowledge of pipework and structural welding codes and standards.
• Experience leading teams and promoting a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of quality assurance and quality control engineers.
• Act as Responsible Welding Coordinator and maintain ISO 3834-2 compliance.
• Provide expert advice on complex welding repairs and fabrication activities.
• Drive continuous improvement by developing welding systems and processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers and stakeholders to meet standards and business needs.
