We are a Living Wage Employer, and all our roles will be paid as such where the pay scales are below the Living Wage rate.

Working 36.5 hours per week.

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced and motivated transport planners to join an exceptional and expanding Transport Planning team, with up to three roles at Principal (GR5) level.

The Transport Planning Team is seeking new staff members to take forward the development of transport policy and strategy, key programmes and projects in support of the development, management and delivery of the Birmingham Transport Plan and Delivery Plan. We are looking for talented individuals to contribute to specialist sub-teams in different areas of expertise including:

  1. Transport policy and strategy;
  2. Business case and scheme development;
  3. Mobility (including public transport) planning.

Birmingham is in the midst of a period of unprecedented development and change. Our transport system must be transformed to ensure the city can accommodate this growth sustainably, and can prepare and adapt to climate change. The demand for transport planning expertise to shape transport policies and masterplans is greater than ever, alongside the identification, specification and development of transport infrastructure.

Do you have the skills and drive to promote the development and delivery of innovative transport policies and strategies that support the city’s ambition to achieve economic, environmental, and social sustainability, and to rapidly decarbonise the transport system?

Do you have the skills to contribute to the planning and support the delivery of an ambitious programme of transport infrastructure development in a growing, young and multicultural city which is home to over one million people?

Can you support the identification and development of transport infrastructure schemes across the city in liaison with relevant third parties and in line with current and future funding streams to inform the scheduling of work?

Do you have ambition and an eye for identifying and pursuing future opportunities to develop and enhance transport infrastructure across Britain’s second city against a backdrop of political, economic, environmental and social change?

If this sounds like you, this is your opportunity to join a dynamic and vibrant team. We bring together transport policy and strategy development, actively working towards the rapid decarbonisation of the city's transport network and supporting growth by developing the city's ambitious transport investment programme, including complex and high value public transport, active travel and road safety infrastructure projects.
