Job description

Principal Traffic Signal Systems Designer (Previous Relevant Experience is Required), Exeter

This position is with Telent in Exeter, United Kingdom, for a Senior Traffic Signals Design Engineer role. The job involves leading the design of complex signalised junctions, pedestrian crossings, and intelligent traffic control systems across various infrastructure projects. The role offers a 50/50 split between remote work and onsite presence, suitable for surveys, design validations, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct on-site inspections, surveys, commissioning, and supervision
• Prepare technical designs and specifications for complex signalised junctions and crossings
• Provide technical oversight for new product or service ideas and design plans
• Prepare MOVA Designs and Datasets
• Ensure compliance with standards such as TSRGD, DMRB, and the Traffic Signs Manual
• Validate MOVA systems for junctions and roundabouts

Candidate Profile:

Ideal candidates will have experience in designing signalised junctions and pedestrian crossings, aiming to progress to a Senior Design Services Engineer role with a fresh perspective on traffic signal design solutions.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Keysignals, OSC Mapper, and AutoTURN
• Microsoft Office skills
• Knowledge of TOPAS 2500A Traffic Signal Controller Specifications
• Experience with MOVA tools, datasets, and linking
• Knowledge of LinSig 3
• Full UK Driving Licence
