The Opportunity

Tetra Tech RPS Energy (TTRPSE) is seeking a Principal Technical Process Safety Engineer to support a team delivering significant projects within the Technical Advisory group, encompassing activities within Offshore Oil and Gas, pipelines, onshore terminals, and gas storage.

Location for this role is flexible. Most of our team is based in Woking, but we can also consider home working with travel for team meetings. We offer flexible working opportunities, including part-time roles, to ensure a balance of family and work life.

Our Technical Advisory team comprises highly experienced industry professionals with expertise in subsurface, reserve audits, Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), equity redetermination, and upstream asset management. We are dedicated to advancing energy solutions and ensuring responsible resource use.

Your Role

  • Apply technical and business skills to deliver high-quality end products and recommendations, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Review and support legislative compliance demonstration on operating assets in hazardous industries, particularly offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities.
  • Review and report on the quality of risk assessments within FEED and EPC projects.
  • Stay updated with applicable British, EU, and International standards and best practices for process safety engineering.
  • Interface with other disciplines within project environments and be responsible for technical safety work scopes.
  • Manage technical safety scopes within Asset Integrity and ESG Due Diligence Projects.
  • Participate in audits and site visits.
  • Travel to UK and international locations approximately 5-6 times per year to meet project requirements.
  • Enhance TTRPSE's knowledge through client engagements and industry best practices.
  • Coach junior colleagues on advanced technical aspects and sector knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Engineering or Science Degree, preferably in Process Engineering.

Experience in as many of the following as possible:

  • Engineering experience in the process industry (Oil & Gas and/or Chemical).
  • Project planning and management.
  • Safety evaluation and hazard analysis experience.
  • Experience with IVB processes and activities.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Area Assessment to EI Part 15, BS EN 60079 part 10, and IGEM/SR/25 standards.
  • Ability to produce engineering documents such as proposals, TORS, HAZOP reports, LOPA reports, QRA studies, and safety assessments.
  • Experience with COMAH Safety Reports and Safety Case/RoMH development.
  • Barrier management and bowtie analysis skills.
  • Fire, explosion, and toxic gas consequence modeling.
  • Fire and gas mapping.
  • Ability to demonstrate ALARP principles.
  • Experience in audits and presenting findings to senior management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
