Job summary

SYSTRA seeks a Principal System Safety Engineer to lead system safety, interoperability compliance and assurance across a major infrastructure delivery programme. You will work with client teams, regulatory bodies and subcontractors to ensure safety requirements are met and integrated into the project delivery process.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, plus substantial experience in railway safety, DOOR usage, and hazard management within large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Experience applying CSM-RA and Railway Interoperability Regulations in large multi-disciplinary programmes.
• Proven ability to lead system safety and interoperability deliverables across stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of safety case development and hazard management.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent recognized by a relevant body.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive system safety, interoperability, regulatory compliance and assurance activities.
• Collaborate with HS2, Network Rail and external assessors to ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
• Strategise and plan for complex challenges in phased entry into service and multi-operator environments.
• Provide guidance on CSM-RA, Interoperability and technical compatibility across the project.
• Deliver system safety training packages internally and externally.
• Lead hazard reviews and workshops and promote Design Risk Management across teams.
