Job summary

Babcock, based at HMNB Clyde Faslane, seeks a Principal Submarine Systems Engineer to safeguard Royal Navy submarines and lead platform systems engineering. You will ensure safety, performance and availability while driving technical change and coordinating with Design Authorities.

The role requires leadership, strong communication with stakeholders, and a track record in submarine engineering. This is a full-time on-site position with security clearance responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable submarine engineering experience.
• Strong system engineering awareness in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
• Experience conducting technical audits and navigating processes.
• Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience identifying and mitigating technical risks.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and guidance across Platform Systems on behalf of the Chief Engineer.
• Interface with Design and Technical Authorities and hold full technical delegations.
• Uphold design intent from work package creation through execution, testing and acceptance.
• Collaborate with internal project teams and MOD stakeholders on long-term engineering solutions.
• Participate in groups addressing engineering change and continuous improvement.
