Job summary

AECOM Glasgow is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the structural engineering delivery for major projects. You will provide technical direction, oversight and assurance across all design stages, mentoring engineers and developing client relationships while integrating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires Chartered status and extensive consultancy experience with reinforced concrete and steel, plus proficiency in Eurocodes and structural design software.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of structural engineering principles.
• Ability to mentor and guide engineers and technicians.
• Proven leadership in multidisciplinary teams and client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural engineering delivery of major projects from concept through to construction.
• Provide technical leadership, direction and assurance across all design stages.
• Develop and review schemes using reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber.
• Apply engineering judgement to develop innovative, buildable solutions.
• Lead preparation and review of calculations, reports, specs and drawings.
• Oversee work by engineers and technicians to ensure quality and coordination.
• Manage technical risk and contribute to project scope, programme and resources.
• Coordinate with architects, civil, services, geotechnical and other disciplines.
• Represent AECOM in client and design team meetings with authoritative advice.
• Develop client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
• Lead and support structural inspections and investigations of existing structures.
• Provide technical support during construction and resolve design issues.
• Contribute to standards, guidance and best practices across the practice.
