Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer in the UK to lead the design and delivery of structural solutions for major energy infrastructure projects, including transmission and distribution networks, OHL systems, power stations and substations.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders to ensure high-quality, innovative, and sustainable outcomes, mentoring junior engineers and guiding project delivery within WSP’s standards.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Proven experience in structural engineering design and delivery.
• Experience with substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, Overhead Line (OHL) projects, and power stations.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering design on major energy infrastructure projects.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
• Manage project delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and WSP’s quality processes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project needs and provide expert guidance.
• Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
• Support the development of best practices and innovation within the team.
