Job summary

WSP is recruiting a Principal Structural Engineer in the UK to lead the design and delivery of structural solutions for major energy infrastructure projects, including substations and OHL systems. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

We seek Chartered Engineers or those progressing toward chartership, with strong communication skills and a track record in delivering complex projects within UK codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Proven experience in structural engineering design and delivery.
• Experience in substations, Transmission & Distribution infrastructure, Overhead Line (OHL) projects, power stations, petrochemical facilities.
• Strong understanding of UK design codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering design on major energy infrastructure projects.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
• Manage project delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and WSP’s quality processes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project needs and provide expert guidance.
• Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
• Support the development of best practices and innovation within the team.
