Job summary

South Tyneside Council, acting as admin for Tyne and Wear Pension Fund, seeks a Principal Stakeholder Engagement Manager. This senior role leads the employer liaison, member services, funding strategy and payroll functions, reporting to the Head of Pensions Administration.

You will guide teams to deliver high-quality pensions services, ensure data accuracy, and drive strategic engagement with employers and members across the LGPS. Hybrid working and relocation support are available.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification, substantial experience in a pensions environment.
• Professional pensions qualification advantageous but not essential.
• Experience of employer and/or member relationship management, pensions administration, data quality improvement, payroll delivery or wider operational leadership within a complex pension environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Quality and Payroll Team, Employer Liaison Team and Member Services Team, providing strategic leadership across services.
• Oversee employer engagement, member services and funding strategy to shape direction of the Fund.
• Drive innovation, continuous improvement and service excellence across the organisation.
• Support the Head of Pensions Administration and contribute to the senior leadership team.

Location: South Shields / Hybrid working (typically 2-3 days office working per week)

Contract: Full-time (37 hours) / Permanent

Salary: £65,634 per annum plus benefits and relocation assistance (where applicable)

This is a particularly exciting time to join us. Tyne & Wear Pension Fund now also delivers pensions administration services for the Teesside Pension Fund through a commercial contract. This creates one of the largest pension administration operations within the Local Government Pension Scheme, serving a growing membership and employer base. As we continue to build on this success, this leadership role will play a key part in driving innovation, continuous improvement and service excellence across the organisation.

About the role

The Principal Stakeholder Engagement Manager is a key senior leadership role within Tyne & Wear Pension Fund, responsible for the strategic oversight of employer engagement, member services, funding strategy, data quality and pension payroll functions. Reporting to the Head of Pensions Administration, you will lead the Data Quality and Payroll Team, Employer Liaison Team and Member Services Team, providing strategic leadership across some of the Pension Fund's most visible and stakeholder-facing services and help shape the future direction of one of the UK's largest and most ambitious Local Government Pension Funds.

You will likely hold a degree or equivalent qualification and possess substantial experience within a pension’s environment, ideally within the Local Government Pension Scheme. A recognised professional pensions qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of employer and / or member relationship management, pensions administration, data quality improvement, payroll delivery or wider operational leadership within a complex pension’s environment.
