Job summary

Answer Digital in Leeds seeks a Principal Software Engineer to shape engineering at scale, co-own capability strategy, and raise the technical bar across client engagements. You will lead strategy, standards, and delivery across multiple projects, mentor senior engineers, and drive AI-assisted engineering adoption while engaging with executives and clients.

You will represent Answer externally at events such as Leeds Digital Festival and help build Answer's reputation as a home for serious

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience delivering large-scale, complex development projects across multiple teams or client engagements.
• Experience providing technical leadership to clients and internal teams at executive/director level.
• Agile delivery experience with continuous delivery, security, operability, observability and cloud cost considerations.
• Experience adopting AI-assisted engineering tooling and governance across teams.

Responsibilities

• Shape the strategy, standards and growth of Answer's largest capability.
• Own the technical direction across client engagements to ensure sound, deliverable solutions.
• Set and uphold engineering standards including code quality, security and operability.
