Job summary

Roche Products Ltd. is seeking a Software Engineer (Principal / Senior Principal) to help design and build modernized data and computational ecosystems for drug discovery.

You will lead interactive tooling, scalable data platforms and AI-enabled development within a cloud-first, microservices-based environment, collaborating with scientists and engineers to accelerate research and delivery of medicines.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent experience in the life science domain building full-stack software solutions.
• Backend: Python and Java; Frontend: React and Vue.
• Cloud-native deployments (AWS) and data engineering concepts (ETL/ELT, SQL/NoSQL, API design).
• SDLC patterns, CI/CD, observability, and maintainable code bases.

Responsibilities

• Interactive Tooling & Platforms: Design and build interactive tools for drug discovery, integrating design workflows, data, algorithms and AI models.
• Scalable Data Ecosystems: Build and enhance a modern ecosystem of apps and pipelines to manage scientific data for analysis.
• Architectural Leadership: Apply microservices, event-driven patterns and AWS to improve data workflows.
• AI & Agentic Engineering: Integrate diverse data to power AI/ML and AI-assisted coding practices.
• Stakeholder & Scientific Collaboration: Partner with scientists to translate challenges into high-performing tech solutions.
• Technical Excellence & Mentorship: Provide leadership, define reusable patterns, and mentor junior developers.
