Job summary

Appvia is seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead domain-driven design and define bounded contexts across a cloud-native stack in London with hybrid working.

You will own end-to-end architecture, drive ADRs and the C4 model, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver robust microservices using Java/Spring Boot and TypeScript/React. This role requires real hands-on leadership and a track record of elevating teams.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on DDD applied to production systems.
• Domain discovery leadership with Event Storming or equivalent.
• End-to-end architectural ownership with ADRs and C4.
• Java/Spring Boot core experience; TypeScript/React capable.
• Consulting mindset translating business problems into technical solutions.
• Mentoring engineers and improving teams and codebases.

Responsibilities

• Lead domain discovery with stakeholders to define bounded contexts.
• Deliver microservice architectures with business-driven boundaries.
• Own ADRs and C4 documentation; defend decisions with senior stakeholders.
• Maintain hands-on credibility with engineers via code-relevance.
• Mentor and elevate the engineering team.
