A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Scientist – Discovery & Translational Biology to join a high-potential drug-development start-up focused on developing new oncology therapeutics that significantly improve overall survival for patients with high unmet needs. Our client is at the forefront of oncology therapeutics, leveraging proprietary algorithms to identify novel protein fingerprints from a comprehensive membrane protein database.

The company is establishing its own laboratory to support its ambitious growth plans and is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist to join their Research Group. This role offers a unique chance to contribute meaningfully across discovery and translational sciences.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement strategies for early drug discovery, focusing on novel oncology therapeutics, including Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) and Bispecific Antibodies.
2. Support portfolio expansion through target validation, co-expression studies, and workflow development for hit selection and lead triage.
3. Deliver pivotal in vivo proof of concept data via external partnerships.
4. Balance hands-on laboratory work with project leadership and external relationship management.

Role Requirements

To be successful, candidates should demonstrate:

1. A PhD in a relevant field with significant experience in developing oncology biologics, preferably ADCs or Bispecific Antibodies, in a biotech or biopharma setting.
2. Strong expertise in primary cell/tissue culture, flow cytometry, and IHC assay development and execution. Experience with spheroids is a plus.
3. Ability to work independently and proactively in a start-up environment.
