Job summary

Peterborough City Council is recruiting for a Principal Development Management Officer within the Planning Service. The role involves leading major projects such as city centre regeneration and sustainable urban extensions, plus line managing a small team of planners and presenting to Committee.

The post offers flexible, hybrid working with some office days and involvement in appeals and design reviews, suited to experienced Principal Planners seeking progression.

Qualifications

• Qualified planning officer with RTPI accredited degree and several years' experience in development management.
• Excellent communicator with ability to develop professionally and support the growth of the team.
• Leadership, organisational and problem-solving abilities with an interest in place shaping.
• Desire to contribute to strategic and city regeneration initiatives and design quality.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of major/strategic projects including city centre regeneration sites and sustainable urban extensions.
• Line manage a small team of planners and lead major project teams.
• Present to Committee, represent the Council at appeals and participate in the Design Review Panel.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality development in a timely manner.
