Merton Council is seeking a Chief Planning Officer to lead the planning service, guiding development management, policy, enforcement and developer obligations. The role focuses on shaping major schemes and regeneration, and on ensuring the infrastructure and community benefits that growth brings.

The post serves as the principal adviser to Members and senior leaders, with responsibility for a housing programme and reform of the planning system ahead.

• Lead the planning service and its around 30 staff
• Shape major development schemes and regeneration
• Steer planning policy
• Secure infrastructure and community benefits from growth
• Oversee development management, strategic applications, enforcement and developer obligations
• Advise Members and senior leaders on planning matters
• Work with developers, communities and partners
