Job summary

Priory Hospital Kemple View in West Wick seeks a part-time principal psychologist to lead psychology for a designated ward in a level 2 rehabilitation and secure service for adult men. HCPC registered, you will supervise, assess, formulate and provide individual and group interventions within a multidisciplinary team.

You will deliver tailored psychological input, supervise staff, and contribute to service development.

Qualifications

• Must hold HCPC registration and be registered as a psychologist.

• Experience delivering cognitive and other psychotherapies with complex clients.

Job description

This part-time principal psychologist post sits within the psychology service at Priory Hospital Kemple View, a 90-bed hospital. The role centres on leading psychology for a designated ward or group of patients and carrying out assessments, formulation and individual and group interventions within a multidisciplinary team. The setting is a level 2 rehabilitation and secure service for adult men with mental health conditions or personality disorders, and access to a vehicle is recommended. HCPC registration is required.

What the job involves

• Leading the psychology provision for a designated ward or group of patients, as agreed with the Head of Psychology
• Undertaking comprehensive psychological assessments, formulation and evaluation to understand patients' needs and inform their care
• Delivering evidence-based individual and group psychological interventions tailored to patients' presentations and care pathways
• Providing high-quality psychological input responsive to individual needs, risks and presentations
• Working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team
• Helping to deliver and develop the psychology service within the hospital

Qualifications

• Formal training in clinical supervision

Registration & licences

• HCPC registration

Experience

• Substantial experience working with complex clients and delivering high-level interventions tailored to their needs
• Solid experience in assessments relevant to the environment and population served
• Proven leadership and management capabilities

Skills & knowledge

• Confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
• At least two additional therapeutic modalities, including one relevant to the disorders treated locally or equivalent
• Strong understanding and application of therapeutic principles
• Willingness to undertake further training where required
