Job summary

Lloyds Bank plc is seeking a Principal Product Designer for a 12-month FTC/secondment, based in Manchester or Cardiff. The role offers hybrid working with a requirement to spend substantial time in the office and to lead design across the Transport portfolio.

The successful candidate will bring deep experience leading large-scale transformation programmes, establishing and evolving design systems, and coaching designers to raise quality and impact.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading the design of complex digital products and services at scale.
• Proven track record leading large-scale transformation programmes and influencing organisational change.
• Experience establishing, scaling or evolving design systems in partnership with Engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring designers at different career stages.
• Exceptional interaction and product design craft with a portfolio demonstrating impact.
• Experience setting design standards and quality measures across teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills including senior leaders.
• Deep understanding of customer-centered design methods and when to apply them effectively.

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold the quality bar for Experience Design across the Transport portfolio.
• Define, evolve and champion design methods, standards and guidelines.
• Lead complex and strategically important initiatives, navigating ambiguity to deliver customer-centered outcomes.
• Shape the team direction through thought leadership, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Engineering to drive design system governance and reusable patterns.
• Bridge between Design and Engineering ensuring high-quality, consistent experiences.
• Influence product, service and business strategy through specialist insight and evidence.
• Coach and develop designers across the team to grow craft and impact.
• Provide guidance to senior partners, product leaders and delivery teams.
