Job summary

Tripadvisor is seeking a Principal Product Data Scientist to shape vision, set the technical direction, and drive strategic impact through innovative analytical solutions. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Commercial teams to define metrics, build scalable data platforms, and advance AI capabilities from proof-of-concept to production.

Strong leadership, communication, and hands-on modeling will be essential to translate complex questions into actionable recommendations

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in data science supporting and influencing a product organization.
• Expert-level Python and SQL with hands-on ML, statistical modeling, and experimentation.
• Ability to define, implement, and operationalize product metrics from scratch.
• Proven track record of leading technical discussions, shaping product strategy, and communicating insights across teams.
• Experience scaling analytics capabilities through automation, self-service data products, or data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and define the Data Science strategy for Product, ensuring analytics and AI methods underpin product development.
• Advise senior Product and Engineering leadership on data-driven decision making at the highest levels.
• Develop and adopt next-gen data science tooling, platforms, and frameworks for automation and scalability.
• Explore and integrate emergent AI technologies (e.g., NLP, LLMs, AI Agents) for analytics.
• Champion rigorous experimentation, causal inference, and uplift modeling in decision processes.
• Own high-profile analytical projects and translate complex questions into actionable recommendations.
• Mentor and develop other Data Scientists and Analysts, fostering critical thinking and technical excellence.
• Scale impact via automation, self-service, and democratization of data science capabilities.
• Create sophisticated customer segmentation and predictive models to inform the product roadmap.
• Communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences across Product, Engineering, Design and Commercial teams.
