Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced engineer to join its UK team, delivering high-value, sustainable wastewater solutions across pumping stations, treatment works, and associated CAPEX assets. You will lead pilot systems, develop process flow diagrams, and select technologies such as MBR and SBR, while coordinating with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers throughout project lifecycles.

The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and innovation in a flexible working environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • Chartered status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institute is beneficial.
  • Experience in water/wastewater networks, treatment works, or related conveyance is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional innovative engineering and technology initiatives and pilot systems such as membrane bioreactors and anaerobic digestion.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and layout plans for wastewater projects.
  • Select appropriate treatment technologies (e.g., MBR, SBR) for projects.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to restore optimal performance of wastewater assets.
  • Project-manage the delivery of wastewater infrastructure across the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement process optimisation solutions to improve efficiency and resilience.
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers on new builds and upgrades.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cross‑functional innovative engineering and technology initiatives and pilot systems, including membrane bioreactors, anaerobic digestion and other technologies.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and layout plans.
  • Select appropriate treatment technologies (e.g., MBR, SBR).
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to restore optimal performance.
  • Project‑manage the delivery of wastewater infrastructure throughout a project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement process optimisation solutions.
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers on new builds and upgrades.
Qualifications
  • Background in water and/or wastewater networks, water and/or wastewater treatment works, mass water conveyance, heat transfer, bioresource, project engineering/management, or waste to energy.
  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • Chartered status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institute (beneficial).
