Job summary

BakerHicks is seeking an experienced Principal Process Engineer to join our collaborative Process Engineering team. You will deliver process engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior engineers while strengthening client relationships.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams across sectors including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, life sciences, chemicals, and more, with hybrid working options and opportunities to travel for site

Qualifications

• Degree required in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in one or more sectors: Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Chemicals, Life Sciences.
• Experience producing detailed process engineering designs and calculations.
• Senior/lead engineering experience desirable.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

As a Principal Process Engineer, you will:

• Support the delivery of process engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, commissioning, and operation.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Contribute specialist expertise in areas such as:
  • Hazard studies
  • Commissioning and qualification
  • Optioneering and feasibility studies
  • Constructability reviews
  • GMP compliance reviews
• Build trusted relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Work closely with colleagues, vendors, and supply chain partners to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Carry out site visits and surveys where required.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation.
• Coach, mentor, and support junior engineers, helping them develop their technical and professional capabilities.
• Share knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised university.
• Experience within one or more of the following sectors:
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Biotechnology
  • Chemicals
  • Life Sciences
• Experience producing detailed process engineering designs and calculations.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering capacity.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to balance project priorities while maintaining a high standard of technical quality.
