Job summary

Aureos is seeking a Principal Primary Design Engineer to lead substations design within its Energy division, based in Andover. You will drive safety by design, perform site surveys, and develop concept and base designs aligned with tender information.

The role requires extensive CAD/BIM experience and a track record in substations design. You will ensure on-time delivery, maintain quality, and deliver work per project information and standards, with opportunities for professional advancement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent is required.
• BSc or BEng degree desired.
• IEng or CEng chartership status is desirable.
• Experience with CAD tools and BIM environments.
• 5+ years’ experience in substations design; 8+ years for Senior; 12+ years for Principal.

Responsibilities

• Actively drive safety by design and contribute to hazard review meetings.
• Carry out site surveys and coordinate work with site teams as required.
• Review and propose concept and base designs based on tender information.
• Design and review general arrangement diagrams, substation layouts, earthing layouts, elevations, CDM drawings, cable routes and containment.
• Create design and equipment technical specifications and ensure KPI targets are met.
