The successful candidate will manage both clinical work and the workforce, ensuring adherence to safety standards and administering contrast to patients. Manchester Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced MR Radiographer with extensive paediatric experience for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital site.
The successful candidate should have significant experience in leading and developing an MRI service, teaching and training junior staff and in service management.
You will be expected to undertake both clinical work and manage the MR service and additionally manage the cross sectional workforce within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital across 1 MRI scanner. The cross sectional workforce also work on 1 CT scanner. The successful candidate will be expected to deputise for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital site lead when required.
Safety is of paramount importance, and you will act as the MRI responsible person for , always ensuring the highest safety standards within the department. The successful applicant will also take a lead within the department for the safe administration of all contrast and medicines to patients, in line with the PGDs in place, and ensure all other staff within the department are doing the same.
This is a full time post worked.

Act as lead radiographer for the MR imaging services at RMCH, and manage the MR and CT workforce, seeking ways to develop the service. Provide expert support and leadership for the other senior radiographers and support staff working in the area.
Working collaboratively with the site lead, manage the day-to-day staffing levels within the departments, ensuring all areas have sufficient staff to provide the service.
Work closely with the Divisional modality lead for MRI, and other MR modality site leads in the trust to ensure a consistent approach to all aspects of the service across the division to ensure optimum efficiency and effective and supportive management at all times.
In collaboration with the modality site leads, operations and waiting list managers, manage the demand and capacity for both OP and IP referrals. Ensure effective processes are in place to monitor the scheduling and prevention of cancellation of scans, initiating any action plans that will assist the service and meet corporate and government targets.
Lead on the training of all staff within MR, to ensure they are competent and supported in delivering a high-quality service. This includes managing the competency based clinical training program for all new cross sectional radiographers in MR, local induction for new starters, identifying training needs for existing staff, supporting regular CPD opportunities and ensuring mandatory training is completed annually.
