Job description

Overview

As a result of the expansion of our team of pharmacists and the reconfiguration of the service, an opportunity exists to join a pro‑active, well respected and forward thinking Pharmacy Team delivering high quality patient care and service to our patients across the two sites.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist who is interested in consolidating their clinical and managerial expertise in the areas of haematology and oncology by joining our progressive pharmacy team.

Key activities

• Providing an Oncology Service, particularly focused on management of treatment toxicities
• Working as part of the multi‑disciplinary team to implement change and develop new procedures and services
• Pre‑assessing patients, reviewing test results and assessing their safety to proceed to treatment.
• Training and mentoring pharmacists and other health professionals.
• Follow up calls with patients to review side effects and ensure they have all the support they need.

Qualifications and experience

A postgraduate training in clinical pharmacy and suitable experience in hospital, in the field of Oncology, Haematology is essential.

Experience in oncology &/or haemato‑oncology and preferably some previous management experience, including service improvement/development, is required.

Experience in managing/supporting staff and being able to work independently is necessary.

Training & development

We will provide appropriate training to aid your personal and professional development, helping you to effectively act as a role model and mentor for junior staff.

There will be opportunities to become an Independent Prescriber if you have not completed this previously.

Working pattern

This post excludes on‑call and weekend working pattern.

Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2‑week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full‑time (please email mtw‑[e-mail] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom‑based sessions and e‑learning.
