Essential Employment is seeking a Principal Officer – Licensing for the West Midlands. The role focuses on coordinating, supervising and monitoring a team of professional licensing officers and providing expert guidance to partners, agencies and the public.

You will oversee licensing enforcement, assess premises licence applications, and support the Licensing and Support Manager to ensure statutory duties are met and public protection is strengthened.

Responsabilidades

• Co-ordinate, supervise, monitor and manage the operational work and performance of a team of professional officers in the Licensing area.
• Provide specialised technical advice and education to Members, partners and agencies, the general public and Businesses on licensing matters.
• Advise on Premises Licence applications and assess grounds for objections under statutory provisions.
• Supervise enforcement duties under licensing legislation.
• Supervise and undertake inspections to ensure compliance and address complaints.
• Assist Licensing and Support Manager in implementing the service plan and statutory functions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To co-ordinate, supervise, monitor and manage the operational work and performance of a team of professional officers in the Licensing area.
• To provide specialised technical advice and education to Members, partners and agencies, the general public and Businesses on licensing matters.
• With respect to applications for Premises Licences to advise the Licensing and Support Manager who is the “Responsible Person” for the purposes of the Licensing Act and assess and inform whether an objection to an application should be made on one of statutory grounds.
• To supervise the carrying out of the enforcement duties under the relevant provisions of licensing legislation.
• To supervise and undertake as necessary inspections’ for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and to deal with complaints as and when necessary.
• To assist and support the Licensing and Support Manager in implementing the service plan and ensuring the service fulfils its statutory functions and the wider public protection role.
