Job Description

The Principal Network Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, high-performance, and scalable network infrastructure. The role focuses on ensuring seamless network operations, enhancing security, and driving automation within the networking domain. This position requires deep expertise in Cisco, Arista, F5, HA Proxy, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and network security alongside strong automation skills using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.

The Principal Network Engineer executes a range of activities using Automation, Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) technologies, delivering the execution of key technologies within the infrastructure landscape.

Qualifications

Main

• Lead the design and implementation of highly available and secure network solutions that align with Entain’s strategic objectives and industry best practices.
• Oversee the configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and proxies.
• Provide expert-level support and serve as an escalation point for complex networking and security-related issues.
• Drive automation initiatives within the networking space using Terraform, Ansible, and Python , streamlining configuration management and deployments.
• Ensure robust network security by implementing best practices, managing firewalls, and overseeing compliance with security policies.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to develop and execute a forward-thinking network strategy.
• Monitor and analyze network performance using advanced monitoring tools, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• Lead efforts to improve disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) strategies across network infrastructure.
• Establish and document network standards, policies, and procedures , ensuring alignment with industry benchmarks.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating and implementing new networking technologies to enhance performance and security.

Essential:

• Expertise in Networking Technologies: Cisco, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5, HA Proxy.
• Network Security: Deep understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and Zero Trust principles.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, and Python .
• Routing & Switching: BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MPLS, SDN.
• Load Balancing & Traffic Management: F5, HA Proxy, Cloudflare.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Experience with tools like Grafana, ELK, Icinga, Telegraf.
• Cloud Networking: Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP networking solutions.
• Incident & Change Management: Strong experience in handling major incidents and executing controlled changes.
• Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning (BCP): Expertise in designing highly available and resilient network architectures.

Desired:

• Knowledge of container networking (Kubernetes, Docker) .
• Experience with Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
• Familiarity with SD-WAN, SASE, and emerging network technologies.
• Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, PCNSE, or AWS Networking Specialty .
