Job summary

Cloud Imperium Games in Manchester is seeking a Principal Mission Designer to shape the Persistent Universe. You will own features and missions from concept through to implementation, collaborating with Narrative and other teams to deliver engaging content.

You’ll design using Subsumption and internal tools, mentor junior designers, build strong cross‑department relationships, and help the team meet frequent deadlines while delivering excellent storytelling.

Qualifications

• AAA titles with ownership of major features or missions.
• Strong understanding of visual scripting or coding fundamentals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
• Proactive mentoring of peers and guiding junior designers.
• Develop relationships with other departments and respect deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Narrative to build engaging stories for mission and locations
• Design, document and own features, mechanics, missions, systems, etc as necessary.
• Works in various in-house tools including Subsumption, a visual scripting editor to create logic for missions, systems and events
• Works closely with various other departments to improve AI, gameplay, mechanics, tools which impact our work or ability to work

Cloud Imperium is looking for an enthusiastic and technically minded Principal Mission Designer to work on its ever-expanding Persistent Universe at its UK studio located in the heart of Manchester.

You would be a part of The Mission Feature Team (MFT) made up of designers, a p roducer and embedded QA s, and is responsible for many aspects of the game, such as creation of the first implementation of new missions to then be handed off to other departments who will leverage them to create further content.

The team is also responsible for the generation of the content for regular in-game events or even the occasional demo.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. What You’ll Do

• The ability to work with and respect frequent deadlines
