Job summary

Montash is recruiting a Principal Java Developer (SC Cleared) for a remote role with ad-hoc travel to London. The position is 12 months with potential extension and starts ASAP in a public sector, secure environment.

The role demands hands-on technical leadership, modern Java experience at scale (Spring Boot, Maven), and strong AWS expertise (S3, SQS, SNS, Step Functions). You will drive architecture, governance and incident response across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with distributed and event-driven architectures.
• Extensive Java development experience at scale.
• Hands-on technical leadership across multiple teams.
• Experience with AWS cloud services including S3, SQS, SNS and Step Functions.
• Proven ability to govern architecture and manage incidents in production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of large-scale, cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Provide technical governance and set direction across teams.
• Design, build, test and operate resilient microservices.
• Drive testing, quality assurance and live service operations.
• Coordinate with architects, security specialists and stakeholders.
